Crocus Doula & Wellness Services

“Hello! I’m Kayla Madder, mom, wife, and owner of Crocus Doula and Wellness Services. Becoming a doula and running my own business were never career aspirations of mine until I became a mother. With my first pregnancy, I was a single mom, nervous, and looking for all the information I could possibly get. That led me to my amazing doula, who was patient, kind, and informative – all the things I needed. After giving birth and surviving those tough early postpartum months, I knew I couldn’t have done it without her, and I wanted to be a support to other women the way she had been for me. Now I’m so thankful to work closely with a fantastic birth doula and together we offer prenatal, birth, and postpartum support under Crocus Doula and Wellness services.”

“I come from a background in the sciences, so keeping the information I give to my clients evidence-based is non-negotiable. As doulas at Crocus Doula, we research and make sure what we tell new/expecting families is valuable information that is not just anecdotal or trendy. We are qualified, experienced birth professionals who offer non-judgmental support for the whole family!”

“Hiring Lindsey as our birth doula was absolutely one of the best decisions we made. Both my husband and I felt confident going into our son’s birth as we had met with Lindsey beforehand and made a plan. She suggested different readings to do so we could better educate ourselves on the process and our choices. When the big day came (well it was a couple days, hah!), it was so great to have Lindsey by my side. She helped me try different positions and was there the whole time, advocating for the choices our family wanted to make. She reminded me that I was strong and helped keep me going when I didn’t know if I could. I know my husband appreciated having the support there as well. She included him in the process and I felt so supported by him as well – he even got a nap in while Lindsey stayed with me and I laboured in the tub.

We ended up with a birth much different than expected but I felt (and still feel) calm and at peace with what happened because we had talked through everything with Lindsey in advance. Her positive, relaxed, and supportive attitude helped my family immensely and I will 100% have her come back if and when there’s another baby to be born. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Lindsey – you are amazing!”

“Hiring Kayla as my postpartum doula was one of the best decisions I could have made for my ENTIRE family. After having my reverse episiotomy surgery at 3 months postpartum, I needed more help than ever. Kayla came over every morning for a few hours and she helped make food, clean, take care of my boys and manage the house so that I could sleep or have a bath or just take time to myself. She made me feel comfortable, it wasn’t awkward at all. I liked that she wasn’t constantly asking me “what I wanted her to do”. In fact she never had to ask me because she just knew. I think it was really helpful that Kayla is a mom of two because she can relate. Kayla is kind, respectful, easy to get along with, down to earth and hard working. I recommend her to any and all people who need help postpartum!”
