Where did it all begin?
Ask Mum was founded by Mandi Berghorst, a South African wife and a Mum to two young children. Her family moved to Saskatoon in January 2018 to start a new and exciting adventure.
Being new to the city and being five months pregnant at the time, it was a struggle (and rather overwhelming) for me to find the products and services I was looking for when it came to pregnancy, baby and toddler. I wanted to support the community and shop local, however doing the research was so time consuming.
I ended up purchasing the majority of the needed products from bigger well-known stores. Later, I started connecting with small local businesses and was blown away by the wonderful service and fantastic products they had to offer, and I wanted to make it easier for people based in the city of Saskatoon to find these businesses!
The vision of Ask Mum was then born in my mind and began to develop, and became a reality at the end of 2018 once my little baby was a bit older (and I was getting slightly more sleep). We have big plans for the near future and aim to become the GO TO online community for busy Mums.
Our family loves community, enjoys traveling and making memories through experiences. Adrian and I have been married for seven years, and have two children: Summer (three years) and Hudson (one year in May 2019). I have been so lucky to meet such amazing Mums through the Saskatoon community, and I hope to not only grow Ask Mum, but also to bring more support to Mums. I believe that a Mother’s job is one of the hardest in the world and we need all the support and love we can get.
