Petite Musician

Music Together & Rhythm Kids classes for children ages 0-8 years in greater Denver. A family favorite that’s been bringing the joy of music-making home for 18 years!

Music Together is an international early childhood music and movement program for children from birth through 7 years. Music Together pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.

Petite Musician offers classes in Wheat Ridge, Littleton/Highlands Ranch, and Centennial and has been serving Colorado families for 18 years.

We offer Babies classes (birth – 9 months/non-mobile), Mixed Ages classes (birth – 5 years), and Rhythm Kids classes (5 – 7 years). Classes are offered indoors, outdoors (select sessions only), and via on-demand videos. Classes are structured through the year as 3/ 10-week sessions in the Fall, Winter, and Spring, a 3-week Holiday mini-session, and a 6-week summer session. All sessions (except Holiday) include a new, beautifully illustrated songbook and CD/download code to stream the new song collection for that session. There are nine collections of music that include a repertoire of over 200 award-winning songs.

Meet Leah Creek Biesterfeld! Leah, and her husband Mark, are both co-directors and teachers at Petite Musician. They are former professional opera singers and when their first daughter was born they reassessed their lives in hopes of finding a more family-friendly career… and they found the Music Together program! They launched Petite Musician in Philadelphia, PA, and ran it there for a year before moving to Colorado where they now have three locations – Wheat Ridge, Littleton/Highlands Ranch, & Centennial, and they’ve been teaching since 2003! Leah continues to sing professionally along the Front Range.

Mark & Leah are also the Co-Executive Directors of a non-profit called Colorado Institute of Music (Colorado Suzuki Institute), which offers a yearly summer music institute in Beaver Creek, CO. Their vision and hope is that Petite Musician families, whose children age out of the Music Together program, will continue their child’s musical journey by discovering the Suzuki method as a natural progression or “next step” in their child’s music education.

I highly recommend Music Together and Petite Musician to anyone with kids! It’s so fun to see my kids get excited about music and instruments and movement. My 3-year old will sometimes start an impromptu family jam session that we all enjoy, even the 1-year old dances around with shakers or jingle bells! I also find that if we need to kind of calm things down in the house, turning on the music on the app or a Facebook session works every time!

The Music Together curriculum is one of the best structured and most effective early childhood music educations out there. Without knowing how parents and children absorb fundamental concepts of musical structure while gaining a common repertory to make music with each other in the home.

– Dr. Ian Howell (Music Together parent and Voice and Vocal Pedagogy Faculty at New England Conservatory, Boston)

Our family participated in the Holiday mini-session for over 5+ years.  It is SO much fun and makes the season super special.
